In Texas, the working poor stand at center of controversy over medical care law’s State health programs expansion


Florida — Jose Gallegos’ company removed worker health insurance coverage coverage to spend less, so when his gut started injuring and his skin took on a yellow-colored dash, he opposed seeing a doctor. When he lastly went to the hospital, doctors clinically diagnosed abdomen cancer.

Gallegos made too much cash to be eligible for a State health programs but not enough to buy his own insurance coverage, so he crawled together what he could, and his spouse, Andrea, took on three tasks. Just over a year later, at 41, he passed away, making behind four children.
